Google Ads management

Google Ads that pay for calls, not clicks

We build and run Google Search campaigns for local businesses — plumbers, auto shops, roofers, restaurants and professional services — around the searches people make when they are ready to hire. You see exactly what each lead cost, every month.

Why it matters

Search ads are the fastest way to show up for “near me” searches you don’t rank for yet

SEO takes months to build. Google Ads can put you at the top of the results for “emergency plumber Tacoma” or “brake repair Puyallup” this week. The catch is that badly run local campaigns burn money on the wrong searches — informational queries, the wrong cities, competitors’ brand names, and clicks from people who never call.

Our job is to make the account earn its keep: tight keyword sets built from how your customers actually search, ads that say what you do and where, landing pages that make calling easy, and tracking that connects spend to phone calls and forms — so the decision to scale up or down is based on cost per lead, not on impressions.

Relative lead flow, not a forecast: ads switch on within days and hold steady with budget; SEO starts slowly and keeps growing without per-click cost. Most clients run both, in sequence.

What’s included

How we manage a local Google Ads account

Keyword strategy

High-intent service and emergency keywords, mapped to the towns you serve. Informational and job-seeker searches excluded from day one.

Campaign structure

Separate campaigns for emergency, core services and high-value jobs, so budget goes where margin is. Geo-targeting matched to your real service area.

Ad copy & extensions

Ads that name the service and the area, with call, location, sitelink and review extensions so the ad takes more of the screen.

Negative keywords

Reviewed every week. “Free”, “DIY”, “jobs”, “salary”, other cities and competitor names stop draining the budget.

Landing pages & conversion

Click-to-call, short forms and clear proof above the fold. We build or fix the page the ad lands on — a campaign is only as good as it.

Tracking & reporting

Call tracking, form tracking and a monthly report in plain English: spend, leads, cost per lead, and what we changed.

Fit

Who Google Ads works for — and who should wait

Good fit

  • Services people search for when they need them now: plumbing, towing, roofing, auto repair, emergency and seasonal work
  • Businesses that answer the phone during the hours the ads run
  • Owners who can afford to test for 60–90 days before judging
  • Companies with a website or landing page that converts (or are willing to fix it)

Better to fix first

  • No Google Business Profile, no reviews — ads will send people to a listing that scares them off; start with GBP management
  • A slow, mobile-hostile website — fix the site before paying for traffic
  • Very low margins or a tiny service area, where SEO and reviews usually carry more of the load
Example

What a first campaign can look like

Hypothetical example — not a client result

A two-truck plumbing company in Puyallup wants more emergency calls. We would run one campaign for emergency terms (“emergency plumber Puyallup”, “burst pipe repair near me”) scheduled to the hours they actually dispatch, and a second for high-value replacements (“water heater replacement Puyallup”). Ads carry call extensions and the “24/7” promise only if it is true. The landing page is one screen: phone number, service area, three reviews, a form. After 30 days we compare cost per call across the two campaigns and move budget toward whichever produces booked jobs, not just calls. Numbers here are illustrative; results depend on competition, budget and how the phone is answered.

Google Ads questions we hear most

How much should a local business spend on Google Ads?

Enough to get statistically useful data — for most local service businesses that is a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a month depending on the market and how competitive the keywords are. We will recommend a starting budget after looking at your keywords and service area, and we never take a percentage of ad spend, so we have no reason to inflate it.

How fast will I see leads?

Ads can show within a day of launch. Judging performance takes longer: expect the first 30–60 days to be about finding the searches that convert and cutting the ones that don’t.

Do you charge a percentage of ad spend?

No. We charge a flat monthly management fee. Your ad spend is paid directly to Google from your own account, which you own and can access at any time.

Is Google Ads better than SEO for my business?

They do different jobs. Ads buy visibility immediately and stop when you stop paying; SEO compounds slowly and keeps working. Most of our clients use ads to cover the gap while SEO builds, then scale ads to the services with the best margins. See our SEO service for the other half.

Can you run ads for my industry?

We focus on local service and professional businesses. Read the industry pages for plumbers, auto repair, roofers, contractors, restaurants and accountants to see how paid search fits each.
