The three businesses in the map box take the calls
For anything urgent or nearby, the map results are the search results. Getting into that box, in the towns you actually serve, is a specific job: a profile built to the last field, pages that prove you work in each area, reviews arriving steadily, and citations that agree with each other.

Local search runs on different rules
Ordinary SEO asks whether your page deserves to rank for a phrase. Local search asks something else: is this business relevant, close enough, and well enough regarded to be one of three shown on a map. Proximity is part of the answer, which is why one location rarely owns a whole county and why the fix is rarely “more blog posts”.
It also has its own surfaces. Your Google Business Profile is a page you do not own but do control; Apple Maps, Bing Places and the big directories all carry a copy of your details. When those copies disagree, the whole system trusts you less.
| Factor | What Google is judging | What we work on |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How well the profile and website match the words in the search | Primary and secondary categories, a complete services list, the business description, service pages on the site |
| Distance | How close the business is to the searcher (or the place named in the search) | Correct service-area settings, city pages with real detail; distance itself cannot be bought |
| Prominence | How well known and well reviewed the business is | Review count, recency and rating; consistent citations; links and mentions; regular photo uploads |
The three factors are the ones Google itself publishes for local ranking; the weight of each varies by search.
The programme
Google Business Profile
Categories chosen against the businesses actually ranking, every service listed and described, attributes, hours including after-hours, service areas, and photos uploaded on a schedule. Managed monthly, not set up once.
Service-area pages
A real page for each town you serve, with detail only someone who works there would write. Never a template with the city name swapped.
Service pages
One page per job you want more of, so “water heater replacement” has somewhere to rank that is not your homepage.
Citations and consistency
Name, address and phone identical across the directories that feed the map, with duplicates found and removed.
Reviews
A request routine that runs after every completed job, plus responses to what arrives. Volume and recency both count.
Local schema and technical
LocalBusiness markup, correct service-area settings, fast mobile pages and click-to-call in the header.
How a local customer actually chooses
Cities we already have pages for
Each of these has its own page with local detail, and each is a place we have done the work. If your town is not listed, that is not a barrier — it is the first page we would write.
What we report
Rankings are a means, not the point. If map positions improve and the phone does not, we say so and change what we are doing.
Local SEO questions
How long does it take to reach the Map Pack?
Profile fixes can move things within weeks; review volume and citation consistency compound over months. In a dense market with established competitors it takes longer, and we will say that at the audit rather than after you have paid for a quarter.
We are a service-area business with no storefront. Does this work?
Yes. We hide the address, set the service area properly, and lean on service pages and reviews. Proximity still applies, so we are honest about how far from your base you can realistically rank.
Is this different from the Google Business Profile service?
The profile work is part of this. Profile management on its own is the smaller engagement; Local SEO adds the website pages, citations and review routine around it.
Do you buy citations or directory links?
We list you where customers and search engines actually look, and we clean up wrong or duplicate entries. We do not buy link packages.
Can you do this outside Washington?
Yes. The work is remote and we take clients across the United States; the research is done for your own service area wherever it is.
