The listing that decides who shows up in the Map Pack
For most local searches, the three businesses in the map box get the calls. We set up, optimise and manage your Google Business Profile so it is complete, accurate, active and full of proof — the things Google rewards and customers trust.

Your profile is the first thing most customers see — before your website
Search “plumber near me”, “auto repair Tacoma” or “restaurant Bonney Lake” and the map results appear before any website. Ranking there depends on relevance (categories, services, description), distance, and prominence (reviews, activity, citations). Most profiles we audit are incomplete, use the wrong primary category, have no posts in months, and leave reviews unanswered — all fixable.
We treat the profile as a living channel, not a one-time setup. It is also where Google Ads location extensions and local SEO converge, so it gets managed alongside both.
How a Google Business Profile turns a search into a call
Setup, optimisation and monthly management
Verification & cleanup
Claim or recover the listing, remove duplicates, fix name/address/phone so it matches your website and directories exactly.

The right primary category and every relevant secondary one; a full services list with descriptions so you match more searches.
Description, hours & attributes
Written for customers and for Google. Accurate hours (including holidays), service area, booking links and attributes.
Photos & video
Real photos of your team, work and location — we can shoot them — uploaded on a schedule, geotagged and named properly.

Reviews
A simple system to ask happy customers for reviews (see our review campaigns) and responses to every review within a couple of days.
| Field | Why it matters | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| Categories | Largest single relevance signal | Set once, reviewed quarterly |
| Services & descriptions | Matches the words people search | Monthly |
| Photos | Activity and proof; profiles with photos get more actions | Weekly uploads |
| Hours & holiday hours | Wrong hours cost calls and reviews | Monthly + every holiday |
| Reviews & replies | Prominence and trust | Replies within a day |
| Posts & offers | Freshness and promotions | Weekly or fortnightly |
| Q&A | Answers appear in the profile | Monthly |
| Citations | Consistent name, address, phone elsewhere | Quarterly audit |
| Factor | What Google is judging | What we work on |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How well the profile and website match the words in the search | Primary and secondary categories, a complete services list, the business description, service pages on the site |
| Distance | How close the business is to the searcher (or the place named in the search) | Correct service-area settings, city pages with real detail; distance itself cannot be bought |
| Prominence | How well known and well reviewed the business is | Review count, recency and rating; consistent citations; links and mentions; regular photo uploads |
The three factors are the ones Google itself publishes for local ranking; the weight of each varies by search.
What management looks like month to month
A family restaurant in Sumner has a claimed but neglected profile: no menu link, two-year-old photos, 40 reviews with no replies. In month one we would fix the categories (“Restaurant” primary, cuisine and “Bar” secondary), add the menu and reservation links, upload a fresh photo set from a short shoot, and reply to every review. From month two, we post weekly (specials, live-music nights), answer Q&A, and run a card-based review ask at the register. We report profile views, direction requests, calls and menu clicks from Google’s own insights. Whether that turns into more covers depends on the restaurant — we do not promise a number.
What we track
Common questions
Can I manage my Google Business Profile myself?
Yes, and many owners start that way. The difficulty is consistency: posts stop, reviews go unanswered and categories never get revisited. We take it on as a monthly routine and report what changed.
Does a better profile help my website rank too?
Indirectly. A complete, active profile with consistent business details supports local SEO signals, and the profile links people to your site. We manage both together — see SEO services.
Do you buy or write reviews?
No. Fake reviews violate Google’s policies and can get a profile suspended. We make it easy for real customers to leave real reviews and we respond to them.
My business is service-area only, with no storefront. Does this still apply?
Yes. Service-area businesses (plumbers, roofers, towing, contractors) can hide the address and set the areas they serve; the rest of the optimisation is the same and often matters more because there is no walk-in traffic.
